Artists – Don’t Make These Marketing Mistakes

Artists – Don’t Make These Marketing Mistakes

In order to make a living from your art, it is important to develop some online business and marketing skills. While this might sound like a something you do not find much interest in, I highly suggest that you should reconsider your viewpoint, in order to take your artistic creations from a mere hobby to a sustainable way to make a living.

  1. Making art without considering your target audience. While it is wonderful to make art, based on inspiration, rather than on thinking about who might want to purchase it, if you have a particular target audience in mind, you can create according to what they would potentially purchase, and work to deliberately create the emotional response that they are looking for. While this might not be something you have ever considered before, you should embrace the fact that making a living from your art is similar to creating a product. It needs to fulfill a need, and value to your intended audience.
  2. Using social media only to talk about your own art pieces. In order to create a following, showcase your art and products, you need to engage people on social media. Social media is mostly social, once you have quality followers that care about your opinion and voice, you can begin selling them your art pieces, but never span – keep your content to 20 percent your own work 80 percent valuable information and social interaction related to your niche and target audience
  3. marketing for artists, marketing tipsNot learning basic business principles. Again, if you are a hobby artist, who only makes art because they enjoy creating art, disregard this. But because you are reading this article, I am going to assume that you want to make money off your art. Therefore, learning basic online business practices, such as how to set up and market a website, how to use social media efficiently, how to write a business plan, and how to build a following (as well as many other aspects), is essential.
  4. Not utilizing communities and forums. For every niche, every type of art, there are online communities out there to be discovered. Research forums and communities for an artist, as well as those who appreciate art, and get active. Not only will you learn from more experienced artists on how to make money, but you will get emotional support.

Use Tumblr to Create Affiliate And eCommerce Sales: 5 Tips

Tubmlr tips, affiliate marketing, eCommerce, sales, marketing tips

Is your target audience a millennial? Then you should not overlook the power of Tumblr to create affiliate commissions and eCommerce sales.
But in order to succeed on that platform, consider a few points, to effectively navigate on this unique platform.

1. Tumblr is a micro-blogging platform.
Essentially this means, you should not try to use it for long-form content, but rather create visual, short, and entertaining content that is easily shareable and grabs the attention of your reader instantly.

2. Tag your images properly
If you are still not using the alt tags on your images, you are doing yourself a disservice. This is even more important on a visual platform such as Tumblr. Always describe your images effectively in order for them to be picked up on Google images.

Use Tumblr to Create Affiliate And eCommerce Sales: 5 Tips Click To Tweet

3. Proper amount of tags
Like Instagram, there is an appropriate amount of tags to be used for each post. For twitter it is three, for Instagram it is up to 30, and in Tumblr, the perfect amount is 7 to 12 hashtags. Any amount above that is considered spam.

4. Choose your name wisely
Spend some time on deciding which name fits your brand the best, but also speaks to your audience. I highly suggest that you look through the most popular Tumblr, and see what types of names work best with the millennial audience. If you are not a part of that age group yourself, I also suggest that you should run the idea by a few millennial friends, or your do a survey on one of your social media platforms that mainly focuses on this age group in order to find the perfect name for your brand.

5. Connect emotionally
Your audience is not looking for a constant display of items they should be purchasing, but rather an emotional connection with your content. Make them care about what you write about the content you promote and most importantly make them care about your opinion. Give them a reason to choose to go to your Tumblr over all of the other ones out there. The best way to do that is to evoke strong emotions.

Get Money And Discounts With Referrals – Make Money From Home

Referral programs are similar to affiliate programs in which you are receiving a commission by sharing a link. Just like affiliate programs, you can add this link to your content, or send it via social media, or email marketing campaigns.  Unlike affiliate marketing you do not get a percentage, but a flat fee per referral, and in some cases like Ebates extra bonuses for referring a specific amount of referrals.

Other referrals allow you to receive brand credit, which you can then use to purchase products from the promoted company. If you use this technique wisely, you can get quite a few free products you would usually buy anyway. Membership on all of these companies are free, and the only payment info you enter are to get paid or to purchase products (like with the Honest Company)

My Favorite Referal Companies

Ibotta: Ibotta is a savings app, that allows members to receive a rebate on normal household purchases, at grocery stores, and large retailers. I love this app because it allows me to save money on food, such as eggs, milk, and bread, as well as other household items. It is easy to use, simply scan the barcode of the products you purchased, as well as the receipt of your purchase, and you can get up to 5 Dollars on an item. This adds up quite quickly, especially in larger households, and we save an average of 90 Dollars a month with this app. Now as a referral program, you will get 5 Dollars per person you refer, which is easy to do, considering that it is an easy sell. Who does not like money back? Ibotta pays out via PayPal, and you can request a payment made to you once you hit the 20 Dollar mark. You will receive your money usually within 48 hours.

Ibotta pays out via PayPal, and you can request a payment made to you once you hit the 20 Dollar mark. You will receive your money usually within 48 hours.

Ebates: Ebates does not work for groceries, but gives you rebates for all of the other stuff we need to buy, from clothing on Amazon to items at Walmart. The offers change often, so you should install the chrome extension to get the latest deals. Ebates also gives you 5 Dollars for referring someone and often has bonuses if you reach a certain amount of referral. Again, this is an easy sell, because you are giving the opportunity to save, and receive cash back while shopping for everyday items.

The Honest Company: If you are looking for sustainable and organic products for your household, The Honest Company has you covered. Not only can you purchase truly awesome personal care products, cleaning items, and other items that are cruelty-free and green, but you can also earn 20 Dollars of store credit for each referral. Considering that they have a wonderful selection of high-quality products, this is a win-win. Oh, and you can offer, as well as take advantage of their free trial of their subscription boxes.

Fusion Cash: This site is a survey site, that allows you fill out surveys as well as print out coupons to make a  few extra dollars each month. I hope everyone is aware that surveys alone will never make anyone rich, but they are a fun hobby which can bring in a few dollars every month to cover the extras. Fusion Cash has also a referral program that allows you to make money in 3 different ways:

Refer a friend who confirms his/her email address: $1 bonus
Your friend completes his/her first offer: $2 bonus
Your friend cashes out: $5 bonus (each and every time they cashout – for life)

There are quite a few more referral programs out there, which can earn you cash and free products. I truly think that this type of earning potential should be explored alongside affiliate marketing to make the most out of your passive earning potential.

Question: Have you ever tried rebate sites like Ebates and Ibotta?

Blogging 102: Don’t Be Intimidated By Your Competition

blogging tips, blog course, blogging

Yes, some of you are just starting out on this adventure that is monetizing your blog. At the same time, there are influencers, bloggers, marketing experts, and others who have a mass following, make waves on a regular basis, and seem to be able to do just about anything better than you and me, my friend.

Don’t Be Intimidated By Your Competition

You see, they all started where you are at the moment. At the beginning. No one starts at the top, even if you think they might have had a silver spoon handed to them – NO ONE STARTS AS A WINNER. No one.

Don't be intimidated by your competition. Read this instead: #hustle #blogging… Click To Tweet

The difference between them and you is the following

1. they did not give up
2. they worked their you know what off
3. they worked some more
4. they did not allow others to stop them no matter what
5. they outworked the competition

It is not always talent that wins. So you are not the best writer in the world. Neither am I. It is often times those who have little talent but who outwork others with talent, who make it to the top.

Is it possible to outwork others? Sure it is. That is something you can control. You can control if you are going to take a chance, even if it might seem impossible to you right now.

Write the best copy you can think of.
Write better copy next time.
Apply for campaigns even if others who apply have more followers or more experience. Do it anyway.
And when you get accepted, give your best work.
Be willing to fail.
Learn.
Repeat.

Now get back to work.

Quick Guide To Writing Non-Fiction Books For Amazon to Complement Your Blog

Quick Guide To Writing Non-Fiction Books For Amazon to Complement Your Blog

Writing a non-fiction book to complement your blog or website gives you the opportunity to utilize the power of Amazon and Kindle Publishing while working with your existing passive income streams. Writing a book, however, is a seemingly daunting task, that leaves many of us overwhelmed. The truth is, writing an eBook for Kindle is a possible, even if you are not the most experienced writer.

Before starting on writing your book, I want you to ask yourself what your purpose for writing the book is. Your purpose can be one of the following:

– create affiliate income
– drive traffic to your blog
– establish yourself as an authority
– make money by selling your books
– get more sales for your products and/or services

Writing books can help your blog and website in a variety of ways. Find out how! #amwriting… Click To Tweet

Once you established your reason for writing the book, begin with the following steps:

1. Make a list of your main blog topics. For example, one of my blogs has the following  main topics: nutrition, fitness, herbs, and  positive thinking. (your websites should never have more than 5 major topics, otherwise, make a separate niche site  3 to 4 major topics are ideal)
2. Search for popular books in the subject matter on Amazon. A book is selling and making money if it’s paid Kindle rank is 100,000 or below.
3. Now that you know what sells in your niche, create a list of similar subjects you can write about.
4. Write two books for each subject you choose. One book to either give away as a freebie on your resource page (if you don’t have a resource page yet, read this training about creating evergreen resources), or for free on Amazon, and the other to list on Amazon for a price.

Related Article: How To Publish An eBook In 24 Hours

5. Keep your books short – 30 to 40-page books and books around 15000 words sell the best for self-published non-fiction titles.
6. Price your book competitively. Best price to list your book for is .99 to 2.99.
7. Add your book to Kindle Unlimited. You can get more people to read your books if they can borrow it for free. You still get paid on your books, as long as they are reading more than 10 % of your book, so make sure that you write to impress from the beginning.
8. Include links to your blog, website, subscription list, resources pages, or whatever else you are currently trying to  promote. This is where your reason for writing the book comes in, which I asked you to determine in the beginning. What links and additional resources you add to your book depends very much on your focus. For example, if you are trying to get more book sales, include the links to your other book titles at the end of your book. If you are trying to get more subscribers to your list, offer a password protected resource pages for those who read your book (make sure that you do not give that link till the end of the book, see my note about Kindle Unlimited – you can promise or hint about your offers further in the beginning of the book.)

Writing books can help your blog and website in a variety of ways. Take advantage of the need of constant new books that the convenience of electronic readers has created, by writing your own.

Why Affiliate Marketing Is The Best Starter Passive Income Opportunity

Why Affiliate Marketing Is The Best Starter Passive Income Opportunity

So you want to make money online, but you are not sure where to start? The offers out there, and opportunities are overwhelming and often hard to negotiate for someone without an extensive background in online selling and marketing. This is why I recommend affiliate marketing as the best starter passive income opportunity.

My Top 5 Reasons Why I Think Affiliate marketing is the best starter passive income opportunity

Top 5 Reasons Affiliate Marketing is the best starter passive income opportunity #Business… Click To Tweet

1. Minimal starter cost. Sure, you need a website (preferably a self-hosted WordPress site), but you can host these quite inexpensively via reliable hosts such as HostGator.com. In addition, you will need a domain name, which is almost always available for under 20 Dollars a year, and that is about it, to get started. I do not recommend that you use a free blogging host, such as wordpress.com or blogger because it does not allow you the flexibility you will need to create and effective site.
2. Plenty of niches for every skill and interest. No matter if you are into stamp collecting, training your cat, or love flyfishing, there are products out there, that you can promote. Sure, you should make sure that your niche actually has a significant enough following and interest, but otherwise, if you are an expert in a particular area, you can use that to your advantage.
3. Amazon is your best friend. Amazon does most of the selling for you. They offer products in such a variety, that Amazon is the best affiliate program you can possibly connect with. Consumers already trust this retail giant, and with the extensive return policy, and secure platform, it is easy to convince someone to purchase through it. At least a lot easier than an unknown website.
4. You do not have to carry any inventory. Inventory equals devoting an extensive amount of time, investment, organization, and know-how to your business. As an affiliate marketer, you do not have to worry about shipping, returns, collecting payment, labeling, and all of the other details, that can be overwhelming for anyone to who just starts out in the business world. You can add these responsibilities later, by selling your own products, and I highly recommend that you eventually expand your passive income streams, but in order to get familiar with the process, you can being slowly, and learn while you go.
5. Build an online reputation. With an affiliate marketing site, you can build an online reputation as an authority, which allows you to expand your passive income streams in the future, by utilizing your already created customer base. As I mentioned above, it is wise to expand your income streams to various other opportunities, after some time, and creating a solid foundation via your affiliate marketing reputation, will make it easier for your already existing consumers to purchase your own product, work with you via your service, or read your books.

Getting started with working online, should not be any more complicated than it needs to be. Finding the right path for yourself, while starting with the easiest opportunity to enter, is a wise choice.

4 Things I Wish I Had Known Earlier About Outsourcing

4 Things I Wish I Had Known Earlier About Outsourcing

Are you overwhelmed with your everyday tasks that you have to stay on top upon in your online business?
If you are at the point where your business is making money, but the tasks you have to do every day, are getting more and more, it is time to think about outsourcing some of these tasks.

But how will you know what to outsource?

Here are a few tips on how to figure this out:
1. For at least one week list all of the tasks that you do every day for your business AND in your home.
Remember outsourcing does not necessarily mean that you just have to limit it to business tasks. Yo can also add things like grocery shopping and cleaning to the list of things you can hire someone to do for you. I personally have my grocery delivered at least once a week (more often when we lived in Florida because the services were better there than here in Las Vegas, especially for organic produce), and I have someone come in twice a week to clean. This frees up so much time!

2. Look for things on your list, that are so mundane anyone could do them, but they still have to be done.
These are the first tasks you should consider outsourcing. The easier the task, the more likely that the VA will do them correctly. No steep learning curve here.

3. Look at the list to find tasks you hate to do.
Are there items that you dread every day? For me, it was cleaning, and number two was formatting my blog posts. I love writing the articles, but formatting them, took more time than writing. Whatever it is, that you do not like, put that on your outsource list.

4. Look at the list to find tasks that you are not good at.
While it will cost you more money to hire someone to do specialized tasks, think of how long it would take you to learn it yourself. Your time is valuable, so you might not want to take the time to invest in lessons or course to get better at it.
One word of caution: You should at least know the basics of what you are outsourcing so that you can do a proper quality check. So learn the basics, and hire an expert for the rest.

 OutsourcingMy Favorite Outsourcing Platform:

Freelancer.com is by far my favorite outsourcing platform when it comes to tasks that require writing, design work, ebook covers, and editors. As a potential employer, you can post a job you need assistance with, and potential employees can answer with how much they will charge, and how long it will take them to complete the project. You can accept then the offer that sounds best to you. Freelancer has high-quality people working through their platform, but their expertise vary greatly, so make sure that you do not choose someone just based on their price, but also on their experience. You can check out Freelancer.com by clicking this link.

I hope this little guide helped you to know when to outsource your next project or task. Freeing your time to do the most profitable tasks that only you can do, makes a lot of financial sense, as you are now able to use this time freely to do what you do best.

Good luck on your journey!

Blessings

What The Heck Is A MLM Business?

What The Heck Is A MLM Business?

If you are looking for online business opportunities, the chances that you come across the term MLM are rather large. MLM’s are everywhere, but to a person to the online business world, this leaves one very large question: What the heck is an MLM business?

What Is A MLM Business?

MLM stands for Multi Level Marketing, which pays their entrepreneurs mostly via two strategies – selling products or  services, AND by recruiting other people into the business and often allowing them to get a share of the profits of their recruits. The term Pyramid Scheme is often related to MLM business opportunities, and while not all of MLM opportunities are scams, some of them are, so you should be vary about signing up for just any of these types of offers.

Related Article: How To Publish An Ebook In 24 Hours – A Review

Examples of MLM Businesses

You have most likely heard of many companies, who are essentially following the MLM business model without realizing that they are. Some of them are not only established but have quite a good reputation. Here is a list of examples:

Amway (health, beauty, and household products)
Avon (beauty products)
Usborne Books (educational products)
NuSkin (skin care)
Herbal Life (health and nutrition)
Mary Kay (beauty products)
It Works! (skin care and nutrition)
Scentsy (candles and scents)
Ambit Energy (electric and natural gas)
Advocare (health and fitness)

As you can see, MLM businesses are found in a variety of niches and are often well known.

What The Heck Is A MLM Business? What To Look Out For:

Some of MLM companies are not legit and offer little to no value to those who they are trying to recruit. While not everyone will have the same results or experiences I have had with some of these companies, I will over the next few weeks try to highlight those who work and those who did not work for me.

1. What training do they offer?
The quality of training of these companies varies greatly. Some offer continuous training opportunities, and valuable  information, that can help you build a thriving business, while others will leave you with a simple PDF that has nothing to offer.

Related Article: How To Become A Successful Affiliate Marketer

2. Upfront and continued cost
Almost every MLM has upfront costs, which in itself is not a problem. But many of them either do not give you valuable information or products in exchange for your money, or will ask you to pay a continued fee, and other payments, that promise more results. Make sure that you are informed about all costs – those to get started, and those who are continued costs.

3. Their focus is on recruiting not on selling
If the companies products are great, and worth their price, they tend to not push those signed up through their programs to push for new recruits, at least not right away. Other companies, however, push more recruiting, then selling, which should set off your alarm bells. These are very often not legitimate companies.

4. Lack of quality products.
Any good MLM company will allow you to sample their products and showcase their quality. If the product is not up to  high-quality standards, don’t sign up. Avon, for example, is known for their high-quality products, and it is easy to find someone who had good experiences with the company.

Conclusion:

MLM business opportunities are not all bad, as some want to make you believe. But, in order to make these types of businesses profitable for you, you must do your research.
I personally suggest that you should diversify your online business, by using a variety of passive income models, such as affiliate marketing, drop shipping, or Kindle publishing, as well as working with MLM companies.

Watch out for more detailed reviews on specific MLM companies, over the course of the next few weeks!

Growing Your Small Home Business: 7 Time Management Tips

Growing Your Small Business - 7 Time Management Tips

Working from home, especially when you have children in the house requires planning, discipline and a strong will. Organizing your day, to make the most out of your already limited time is essential. I have compiled a list of 7 Time Management Tips for you to be in control of your day, and not the day be in control of you:

1. Set an priority for every day – some planners (if you choose to use one)  even come with a space for your daily top three  now. if you do not have a planner or are using a different planning technique than write or print out a piece of paper and hang it somewhere where you can see your top three  often. Post-it notes work very well for that, also.

2. Set a time limit for each task – figure out how long a task should take, and set a timer. That way you can stay on task and focused, and do not begin daydreaming or become overly perfectionistic about a certain task. It is easy to get lost in the mountain of unanswered emails, or spent hours reading up on other blogs in your niche, but that is not necessarily the best use of your time.

3. Schedule an “Get Organized” Time, daily – every day, may it be mornings or evenings (I prefer evenings) go through your calendar (take 10 minutes, see point two), and organize your next day. Put it on paper, mark your priorities – see tip one, and you will begin your next  work day much more productive and organized. This is also a good time to check the weather forecast and lay out your clothing (and that of your children, if you have young kids).

get organized4. Set goals, write them down and be concrete. With that I mean, goals with deadlines, write all of them down, take once a year to set your goals (or once a quarter, if you are a planner like me, but your plans tend to change due to opportunities, and family members responsiblities).

5. Set up a routine, with a check list. In order to go over those moments you are dragging your feet, create check lists and routines for each and every section of your day as much as possible. It is easier to keep on moving through your required actions (especially if you are new to working from home), and still get everything done, that needs to be done. When working at home or from home it is easy to allow yourself to get sidetracked, and controlled by outside circumstances. Checklists and routines make it a lot easier to stay on task. A great idea is to create a bullet journal type tracker, or use an electronic app, that allows you to mark off each tasks.

6. Delegate – this is a step that is hard for many people, especially for some stay at home moms, but I highly recommend, that you learn to delegate. There is only so much you can do throughout your day, and it is not a shame to ask for help. May it be by inlisting spouse, kids, family members, or hire someone to do routine business tasks. Start with those actions that others can do easily for you, and then move onto those tasks you hate do to the most – the latter tasks are the first ones you should consider hiring someone to do for you.

7. Get up early – starting your day early, especially when the house is quiet, and there is no one else awake, can give you a heads up on your daily to do list. May it be to take the time to do your self-care routine, such as meditation and gratitude journaling, or may it be to do some tasks you would otherwise not be able to complete, getting up earlier can help you achieve more.

Growing Your Business - 7 Time Management Tips

Whether you are choosing to make money via blogging, are working on your creative business, or are on your way to becoming an affiliate marketer, the beginning of a business adventure can always seem overwhelming. Getting organized from the start, will make this process easier for you.

Tools I recommend:

Evernote: This platform allows you not only to create to-do lists, and notebooks to keep all of your information in one place, you can also use this platform to collect  webpages via its browser extension. It is a tool, I use daily, even though I do most of my planning on paper.

Filofax Planners:* Filofax planners are the planners of my choice. They are sturdy, compact, and flexible, while allowing me to plan my day the way I see fit. And they look good.

Planner Inserts:* While you can create your own inserts for your planners, I prefer those made for me. KaelisAccessories makes beautiful and functional planner inserts for various planners, including Filofax. Her Etsy Shop is located here

Planning and Organizing Tools - Stabilo Pens

Stabilo Pens:* While I am not one of those planners who love to use stickers and pretty pictures everywhere,
I do love color-coordinating my notes, in order for them to grab my attention. The best pens for that are in my opinion Stabilo Fine Tip pens. I love to write with these smooth pens, because they do not bleed, unlike some other ones out there, while offering more color choices then traditional ball point pens do.
