22 Tips To Rock LinkedIn!

LinkedIn is one of those social media platforms that seems a lot more complicated than it really is.  There are however some rules that make your success on the platform more likely. In order for you to learn how to make the most out of Linkedin for your professional and business success, I have collected 22 tips to help you master this social media site.

 

It’s All In The Profile

  1. Have a professional, headshot only image as your profile image. Make sure that what you are wearing, and your background reflects your niche, and the niche standard. So a lifestyle blogger may have family images in the background, while someone working with tech should have a more “professional” look to the image.
  2. Make sure you use the right keywords in your profile, that fit your niche, in order to rank higher.
  3. Add a call to action to your summary. You can simply state something like: Connect with me on Wealthy Affiliate, by following this link, or tell people to check out your blog/website.
  4. Don’t forget to add contact info to your profile.

Linkedin Dont’s

  1. Don’t send spammy messages to your followers. You will be ignored.
  2. Don’t send spammy status updates. Instead, post articles and info related to your niche, and engage.
  3. Don’t engage in negative commenting. This is a professional network, not Facebook, where negative commenting is more acceptable – but even there you should not do that.
  4. Don’t post messages to groups that are not relevant to the group’s mission.
  5. Don’t ask new followers to endorse you. Allow them to get to know you first.
  6. Don’t use buzzwords. Words like Creative, passionate, driven and related words should not be used on Linkedin. Instead, write the way you would talk, but keep it short and to the point.

 

Increase Engagement

  1. Share industry news on a regular basis
  2. Ask questions related to content you posted
  3. Follow the same rules of commenting on the status of others, as you would with blog comments, meaning make it personal, make it relating the content shared, and make it more than just a few words.
  4. Directly ask for endorsements, and offer them in return, but only from those with whom you already had a relationship with – not your new followers.

Linkedin Longform Posts

  1. 22 Tips To Rock LinkedIn!Create a publishing schedule. Just like with your blog, regularly publishing a post, preferably on the same day every week, or every other week will make people look for your post.
  2. The ideal length of long form Linkedin posts is 600 to 1200 words.
  3. Include images. Just like with a blog post, make sure that you include engaging images into your post.
  4. Include a link to your website, services, or a social media platform within the content, or at the end of the content to increase further engagement.

 

Increase Following:

  1. Use the alumni feature for your high school and college to connect with more people
  2. Do not just simply use the standard connection request, but rather add some personal words to increase your chances of being accepted
  3. Take a moment to look at the profile of people who have looked at your profile. This is how you find out who looked at your profile: Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage, click View profile, and select Who’s Viewed Your Profile. Beneath your profile photo on the left rail of your homepage, click the number above Who’s viewed your profile.
  4. Be active. Spend 5 minutes every day to connect with people on Linkedin by leaving them comments, wishing them Happy Birthday, or pointing out something of value to them. Even if it is a professional social network, it is still social, and therefore you have to make a point to be engaging and easily approachable.

How To Become A Successful Affiliate Marketer

Affiliate marketing is an exciting way to make money online, without the need of creating one’s own products or  holding inventory. You can start this type of passive income businesses from your dining room table, with nothing more than a computer, and a reliable internet connection. But how does one become a successful affiliate marketer?

 

Check out the following 6 Tips

1. Build upon a successful foundation

Any successful business is built upon a solid foundation of knowledge and tools. Finding a niche that is profitable and which you are passioned about is one of the keys to a successful affiliate marketing business. You should try to look for a niche, in which you  already an expert in, or one in which you always wanted to accumulate a lot of knowledge about. 2. Find a reliable web host 

The second important step is to decide upon which platform you will be using for your website or blog. I do not recommend the free sites, such as blogger, or the free wordpress.com, due to its limits in customizability and monetization. If you are serious about making money with your affiliate marketing website, you should consider a WordPress site, which needs to be hosted via the various hosting services available out there. My two favorites are HostGator, which has a very reliable hosting platform, and excellent customer service, or if you are completely new to building a website, then I highly suggest that you host via SiteRubix, which is a part of the Wealthy Affiliate University, and comes not only with reliable and friendly customer service but with lessons on how to build your niche site from ground up. 3. Connect with profitable businesses

In order to be successful with affiliate marketing, you have to connect with companies that offer affiliate programs.  Luckily the big stores, offer these types of partnerships, such as Amazon, Walmart, Etsy and more. You can sign up with their programs by visiting their sites directly (usually, you will find a link on the bottom of their websites), or by joining affiliate marketing networks like ShareASale, who will connect you with many programs, such as my personal varieties,  FitBit, CreativeLive, Lulu’s, and many more.

4. Provide valuable content to drive traffic

Once you decided what niche you want to work in, and which companies you want to work with, you need to provide valuable content for your readers, so that they will continue to come back. These should be a mixture of informative articles, how to guides, and reviews. The ratio on how many of each of the type of content you provide, depends largely on your niche.

5. Stay current

Whatever your type of content, you need to make sure you stay up-to-date with your niches developments. Set up google alerts, to learn about the latest news, read other blogs, and books about the subject, and share the learned information with your readers. It is also a great idea to join forums so that you are always aware of what your potential reader’s concerns and questions are. Try to answer these questions in your blog posts, on a regular basis.

6. Become a trusted resource

Continuing to bring valuable information will make you a trusted resource, that will bring in repeat readers. While this takes time, it is a relationship you want to make sure you take great care in building. Affiliate marketing is not one of those get rich quick schemes, but if you are willing to put in the time, and effort to connect and build a community of readers, you will have the chance of creating a solid business for yourself and your family.
