Artists – Don’t Make These Marketing Mistakes

Artists – Don’t Make These Marketing Mistakes

In order to make a living from your art, it is important to develop some online business and marketing skills. While this might sound like a something you do not find much interest in, I highly suggest that you should reconsider your viewpoint, in order to take your artistic creations from a mere hobby to a sustainable way to make a living.

  1. Making art without considering your target audience. While it is wonderful to make art, based on inspiration, rather than on thinking about who might want to purchase it, if you have a particular target audience in mind, you can create according to what they would potentially purchase, and work to deliberately create the emotional response that they are looking for. While this might not be something you have ever considered before, you should embrace the fact that making a living from your art is similar to creating a product. It needs to fulfill a need, and value to your intended audience.
  2. Using social media only to talk about your own art pieces. In order to create a following, showcase your art and products, you need to engage people on social media. Social media is mostly social, once you have quality followers that care about your opinion and voice, you can begin selling them your art pieces, but never span – keep your content to 20 percent your own work 80 percent valuable information and social interaction related to your niche and target audience
  3. marketing for artists, marketing tipsNot learning basic business principles. Again, if you are a hobby artist, who only makes art because they enjoy creating art, disregard this. But because you are reading this article, I am going to assume that you want to make money off your art. Therefore, learning basic online business practices, such as how to set up and market a website, how to use social media efficiently, how to write a business plan, and how to build a following (as well as many other aspects), is essential.
  4. Not utilizing communities and forums. For every niche, every type of art, there are online communities out there to be discovered. Research forums and communities for an artist, as well as those who appreciate art, and get active. Not only will you learn from more experienced artists on how to make money, but you will get emotional support.

The Cons Of Affiliate Marketing

Many marketers and bloggers will tell you the positive sides of affiliate marketing, but today, I want to let you know what the con’s of affiliate marketing are, so you can make an informed decision on if this type of business is right for you.

1. It is not a get rich quick type of business.
If you are looking for a short cut when it comes to making money, affiliate marketing is not the right avenue for you. Affiliate marketing takes time because you need to build and audience and trust before they will click on your
links.

2. If you don’t like writing content, affiliate marketing might not be for you.
Content marketing is the best strategy to utilize when you are trying to build an affiliate marketing income. May it be via an email subscriber list – which requires you to write emails, or via blog posts, infusing affiliate links into content naturally, brings usually a higher click-through rate, than banners. Of course, you could outsource your content writing to freelancers, but considering that most blogs require you to write content 2 to 3 days a week to rank higher on Google, that can become an expensive strategy for the beginning affiliate marketer

3. It is time-consuming.
Building an audience for your blog and social media channels takes consistent and daily action. A new affiliate marketer should be willing to invest a lot of time to build his or her online presence and business. Also, marketing and niche research, which is essential is also time-consuming.

4. You Have To Wait For Your Money
Most affiliate programs pay out once a month, with some of them holding the commission back for one month, to allow the payments to clear, and any refunds to occur. This is not an immediate cash flow business and might take – even with a high sale volume, take a few weeks before you will see money arriving in your bank account or PayPal.

Despite what I have just mentioned, I believe that affiliate marketing is the best way for a beginner to make money online, as it requires the least amount of upfront expenses. To get started you need a website, and social media accounts to start applying for affiliate networks and partners such as Amazon, Target, Etsy, ShareASale and more.

How To Master Twitter For Marketing And Business

How To Master Twitter For Marketing And Business

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Twitter is not a social media platform you should ignore if you want to grow an engaged blog or website audience. On top of that, it is possible to make money on Twitter, by being part of social media campaigns run by brands and companies throughout the year. In order to maximize your potential income – and we are on the internet to make money, so this should be our main goal – I have compiled a list of tips and tricks that can increase your potential for both traffic and income generated via this social media platform.

*

Let me take your business to the next level! Find out more here!

Increase your twitter following:

1.Do a keyword search on your niche in twitter.
2.Follow people who have real names, and pictures of themselves, or something related to the niche in their
profile.
3.Make sure that they are actually engaged in the niche, by reading some of their feed
4. Do not follow companies, unless it is a company you are actually working with – i.e. as an Influencer, Brand Ambassador and such

Increase your twitter engagement:

1.Take 15 minutes a day to engage with those you follow and take 15 minutes a day to engage in trending topics, and related to your niche hashtags. This could mean that you offer encouraging advice to questions posted, that you tell someone you enjoyed their post, or to connect in any other meaningful way that is related to the subject at hand
2. Get comfortable with the hashtags for your niche. Make a list, and refer to it every time you are on twitter. You should be not only using these hashtags in your own niche but to find and engage with followers.
3. Respond to comments likes and retweets. Mention those who were engaging on Follow Friday, or thank them throughout the week for being engaged.

Follower/Following Ratio:

Your follow count does not have to be low – it should not be more than about 2/3 of your follower rate, BUT
most importantly those should be, targeted people! Do not randomly follow people, make sure each of them count!

Bring Value To Your Followers:How To Master Twitter For Marketing And Business

Share other people’s stuff- but only when it is high quality. Use automation tools like Buffer to share some of these posts, considering that you might find quite a few posts in one setting, but will overwhelm your followers if you share too many posts after each other.

Twitter Images:

1.Change the variety of your twitter images – your images should not always be the same type. I fell for that in the beginning, all of my blog posts have the same type of images as a starter image, which is boring for followers. Make them different, engaging have about 5 different styles that you switch up on.
2. Be sure they are the perfect size for twitter – which is 440 pixels wide and 220 pixels tall.

Twitter Goals:

Do you have twitter goals for 2017? My twitter goals are currently to grow my followers to 12K by the end of the year and be listed in 2500 lists. What are your goals?

Why Affiliate Marketing Is The Best Starter Passive Income Opportunity

Why Affiliate Marketing Is The Best Starter Passive Income Opportunity

So you want to make money online, but you are not sure where to start? The offers out there, and opportunities are overwhelming and often hard to negotiate for someone without an extensive background in online selling and marketing. This is why I recommend affiliate marketing as the best starter passive income opportunity.

My Top 5 Reasons Why I Think Affiliate marketing is the best starter passive income opportunity

Top 5 Reasons Affiliate Marketing is the best starter passive income opportunity #Business… Click To Tweet

1. Minimal starter cost. Sure, you need a website (preferably a self-hosted WordPress site), but you can host these quite inexpensively via reliable hosts such as HostGator.com. In addition, you will need a domain name, which is almost always available for under 20 Dollars a year, and that is about it, to get started. I do not recommend that you use a free blogging host, such as wordpress.com or blogger because it does not allow you the flexibility you will need to create and effective site.
2. Plenty of niches for every skill and interest. No matter if you are into stamp collecting, training your cat, or love flyfishing, there are products out there, that you can promote. Sure, you should make sure that your niche actually has a significant enough following and interest, but otherwise, if you are an expert in a particular area, you can use that to your advantage.
3. Amazon is your best friend. Amazon does most of the selling for you. They offer products in such a variety, that Amazon is the best affiliate program you can possibly connect with. Consumers already trust this retail giant, and with the extensive return policy, and secure platform, it is easy to convince someone to purchase through it. At least a lot easier than an unknown website.
4. You do not have to carry any inventory. Inventory equals devoting an extensive amount of time, investment, organization, and know-how to your business. As an affiliate marketer, you do not have to worry about shipping, returns, collecting payment, labeling, and all of the other details, that can be overwhelming for anyone to who just starts out in the business world. You can add these responsibilities later, by selling your own products, and I highly recommend that you eventually expand your passive income streams, but in order to get familiar with the process, you can being slowly, and learn while you go.
5. Build an online reputation. With an affiliate marketing site, you can build an online reputation as an authority, which allows you to expand your passive income streams in the future, by utilizing your already created customer base. As I mentioned above, it is wise to expand your income streams to various other opportunities, after some time, and creating a solid foundation via your affiliate marketing reputation, will make it easier for your already existing consumers to purchase your own product, work with you via your service, or read your books.

Getting started with working online, should not be any more complicated than it needs to be. Finding the right path for yourself, while starting with the easiest opportunity to enter, is a wise choice.

4 Things I Wish I Had Known Earlier About Outsourcing

4 Things I Wish I Had Known Earlier About Outsourcing

Are you overwhelmed with your everyday tasks that you have to stay on top upon in your online business?
If you are at the point where your business is making money, but the tasks you have to do every day, are getting more and more, it is time to think about outsourcing some of these tasks.

But how will you know what to outsource?

Here are a few tips on how to figure this out:
1. For at least one week list all of the tasks that you do every day for your business AND in your home.
Remember outsourcing does not necessarily mean that you just have to limit it to business tasks. Yo can also add things like grocery shopping and cleaning to the list of things you can hire someone to do for you. I personally have my grocery delivered at least once a week (more often when we lived in Florida because the services were better there than here in Las Vegas, especially for organic produce), and I have someone come in twice a week to clean. This frees up so much time!

2. Look for things on your list, that are so mundane anyone could do them, but they still have to be done.
These are the first tasks you should consider outsourcing. The easier the task, the more likely that the VA will do them correctly. No steep learning curve here.

3. Look at the list to find tasks you hate to do.
Are there items that you dread every day? For me, it was cleaning, and number two was formatting my blog posts. I love writing the articles, but formatting them, took more time than writing. Whatever it is, that you do not like, put that on your outsource list.

4. Look at the list to find tasks that you are not good at.
While it will cost you more money to hire someone to do specialized tasks, think of how long it would take you to learn it yourself. Your time is valuable, so you might not want to take the time to invest in lessons or course to get better at it.
One word of caution: You should at least know the basics of what you are outsourcing so that you can do a proper quality check. So learn the basics, and hire an expert for the rest.

 OutsourcingMy Favorite Outsourcing Platform:

Freelancer.com is by far my favorite outsourcing platform when it comes to tasks that require writing, design work, ebook covers, and editors. As a potential employer, you can post a job you need assistance with, and potential employees can answer with how much they will charge, and how long it will take them to complete the project. You can accept then the offer that sounds best to you. Freelancer has high-quality people working through their platform, but their expertise vary greatly, so make sure that you do not choose someone just based on their price, but also on their experience. You can check out Freelancer.com by clicking this link.

I hope this little guide helped you to know when to outsource your next project or task. Freeing your time to do the most profitable tasks that only you can do, makes a lot of financial sense, as you are now able to use this time freely to do what you do best.

Good luck on your journey!

Blessings

How To Become A Successful Affiliate Marketer

how-to-become-a-successful-affiliate-marketer

Affiliate marketing is an exciting way to make money online, without the need of creating one’s own products or  holding inventory. You can start this type of passive income businesses from your dining room table, with nothing more than a computer, and a reliable internet connection. But how does one become a successful affiliate marketer?

Check out the following 6 Tips

1. Build upon a successful foundation

Any successful business is built upon a solid foundation of knowledge and tools. Finding a niche that is profitable and which you are passioned about is one of the keys to a successful affiliate marketing business. You should try to look for a niche, in which you  already an expert in, or one in which you always wanted to accumulate a lot of knowledge about. If you are still stuck on what specific type of affiliate marketing niche is right for you, check out this lessons “Choosing Your Direction: It Starts With A Niche”

2. Find a reliable web host

The second important step is to decide upon which platform you will be using for your website or blog. I do not recommend the free sites, such as blogger, or the free wordpress.com, due to its limits in customizability and monetization. If you are serious about making money with your affiliate marketing website, you should consider a WordPress site, which needs to be hosted via the various hosting services available out there. My two favorites are HostGator, which has a very reliable hosting platform, and excellent customer service, or if you are completely new to building a website, then I highly suggest that you host via SiteRubix, which is a part of the Wealthy Affiliate University, and comes not only with reliable and friendly customer service but with lessons on how to build your niche site from ground up. You can read more about my experience with Wealthy Affiliate  here.

3. Connect with profitable businesses

In order to be successful with affiliate marketing, you have to connect with companies that offer affiliate programs.  Luckily the big stores, offer these types of partnerships, such as Amazon, Walmart, Etsy and more. You can sign up with their programs by visiting their sites directly (usually, you will find a link on the bottom of their websites), or by joining affiliate marketing networks like ShareASale, who will connect you with many programs, such as my personal varieties,  FitBit, CreativeLive, Lulu’s, and many more.

4. Provide valuable content to drive traffic

Once you decided what niche you want to work in, and which companies you want to work with, you need to provide valuable content for your readers, so that they will continue to come back. These should be a mixture of informative articles, how to guides, and reviews. The ratio on how many of each of the type of content you provide, depends largely on your niche.

5. Stay current

Whatever your type of content, you need to make sure you stay up-to-date with your niches developments. Set up google alerts, to learn about the latest news, read other blogs, and books about the subject, and share the learned information with your readers. It is also a great idea to join forums so that you are always aware of what your potential reader’s concerns and questions are. Try to answer these questions in your blog posts, on a regular basis.

6. Become a trusted resource

Continuing to bring valuable information will make you a trusted resource, that will bring in repeat readers. While this takes time, it is a relationship you want to make sure you take great care in building. Affiliate marketing is not one of those get rich quick schemes, but if you are willing to put in the time, and effort to connect and build a community of readers, you will have the chance of creating a solid business for yourself and your family.

This post may contain affiliate links – see disclosure page for details

As I have stated before in a previous post, Zazzle is a great place for additional passive income opportunities, through their variety of merchandise available to affiliate marketers, as well as designers who want to share their art with the  world. Zazzle postage stamps are indeed legal.

In order to design postage stamps for Zazzle, the designs go through an additional verifying and approval step via the US Postal service, who has the right to disallow any designs that they do not find  appropriate for their collection. Once approved, which usually happens within 2 to 3 business days, the stamp designs are perfectly legal to sell and use just as regular standard postage stamps

Customized and personalized Zazzle postage stamps are wonderful for many occasions, and therefore are a great addition to any of the following affiliate marketing niches:

5 Quick Amazon FBA Selling Tips

5 Quick Amazon FBA Selling Tips

If you are interested in selling on Amazon via their Fulfillment by Amazon program (Amazon FBA) , there are a few tips to remember, that will make your selling experience a lot smoother, easier and more profitable. Some of these tips might sound obvious but are rather easy to overlook especially when you are first starting out.

1.Make sure you label your boxes correctly
When creating shipments directed toward the Amazon Warehouse, you will have two labels for each box to print out. Make sure your product matches both labels, before sending it off, in order to reduce bad reviews or returns.

2. Read and follow the rules
Amazon is picky with its sellers, so follow this link and read up on all of the rules. Also keep up with the seller account updates, which highlight the changes that are frequently made to the Amazon FBA program.

3. Respond To Customer Notifications and Questions quickly
Amazon frowns upon sellers who do not answer any customer concerns in a fast manner. You have 24 hours to respond to any inquiries before you get in trouble with the platform, so be very diligent about responding to any notification

4. Avoid negative feedback by going above what is expected
Make sure that your products are of highest quality, and that you have used the best possible packaging so that your products will arrive in great condition. Negative ratings have a huge impact on your sales on Amazon, and your product ranking, so prevent them if possible.

5. Try your best to fix any negative feedback
I already mentioned the negative side effect of a negative feedback, but if you happen to still get a not so good rating, get in contact with your customer and see how you can fix it. Be courteous, and timely in your request, and be willing to admit fault even if the fault was not yours. But do not simply beg for the removal of a negative rating, as a seller had previously done to me, with the statement how it will negatively impact their business. Fix the problem THEN ask for a removal of the rating in question.

If you are not ready to plunge into Amazon FBA but are still want to sell products without as much risk, check out my Dropshipping Tools and Resources page, for  information on a less risky passive income opportunity.

Check out this book on Amazon FBA:
