22 Tips To Rock LinkedIn!

social media tips, marketing tips, LinkedIn

LinkedIn is one of those social media platforms that seems a lot more complicated than it really is.  There are however some rules that make your success on the platform more likely. In order for you to learn how to make the most out of Linkedin for your professional and business success, I have collected 22 tips to help you master this social media site.

It’s All In The Profile

  1. Have a professional, headshot only image as your profile image. Make sure that what you are wearing, and your background reflects your niche, and the niche standard. So a lifestyle blogger may have family images in the background, while someone working with tech should have a more “professional” look to the image.
  2. Make sure you use the right keywords in your profile, that fit your niche, in order to rank higher.
  3. Add a call to action to your summary. You can simply state something like: Connect with me on Wealthy Affiliate, by following this link, or tell people to check out your blog/website.
  4. Don’t forget to add contact info to your profile.

Linkedin Dont’s

  1. Don’t send spammy messages to your followers. You will be ignored.
  2. Don’t send spammy status updates. Instead, post articles and info related to your niche, and engage.
  3. Don’t engage in negative commenting. This is a professional network, not Facebook, where negative commenting is more acceptable – but even there you should not do that.
  4. Don’t post messages to groups that are not relevant to the group’s mission.
  5. Don’t ask new followers to endorse you. Allow them to get to know you first.
  6. Don’t use buzzwords. Words like Creative, passionate, driven and related words should not be used on Linkedin. Instead, write the way you would talk, but keep it short and to the point.

Increase Engagement

  1. Share industry news on a regular basis
  2. Ask questions related to content you posted
  3. Follow the same rules of commenting on the status of others, as you would with blog comments, meaning make it personal, make it relating the content shared, and make it more than just a few words.
  4. Directly ask for endorsements, and offer them in return, but only from those with whom you already had a relationship with – not your new followers.

Linkedin Longform Posts

  1. 22 Tips To Rock LinkedIn!Create a publishing schedule. Just like with your blog, regularly publishing a post, preferably on the same day every week, or every other week will make people look for your post.
  2. The ideal length of long form Linkedin posts is 600 to 1200 words.
  3. Include images. Just like with a blog post, make sure that you include engaging images into your post.
  4. Include a link to your website, services, or a social media platform within the content, or at the end of the content to increase further engagement.

Increase Following:

  1. Use the alumni feature for your high school and college to connect with more people
  2. Do not just simply use the standard connection request, but rather add some personal words to increase your chances of being accepted
  3. Take a moment to look at the profile of people who have looked at your profile. This is how you find out who looked at your profile: Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage, click View profile, and select Who’s Viewed Your Profile. Beneath your profile photo on the left rail of your homepage, click the number above Who’s viewed your profile.
  4. Be active. Spend 5 minutes every day to connect with people on Linkedin by leaving them comments, wishing them Happy Birthday, or pointing out something of value to them. Even if it is a professional social network, it is still social, and therefore you have to make a point to be engaging and easily approachable.

I hope you enjoyed these Linkedin tips, and are able to utilize them in order to increase your business and professional goals.

Use Tumblr to Create Affiliate And eCommerce Sales: 5 Tips

Tubmlr tips, affiliate marketing, eCommerce, sales, marketing tips

Is your target audience a millennial? Then you should not overlook the power of Tumblr to create affiliate commissions and eCommerce sales.
But in order to succeed on that platform, consider a few points, to effectively navigate on this unique platform.

1. Tumblr is a micro-blogging platform.
Essentially this means, you should not try to use it for long-form content, but rather create visual, short, and entertaining content that is easily shareable and grabs the attention of your reader instantly.

2. Tag your images properly
If you are still not using the alt tags on your images, you are doing yourself a disservice. This is even more important on a visual platform such as Tumblr. Always describe your images effectively in order for them to be picked up on Google images.

Use Tumblr to Create Affiliate And eCommerce Sales: 5 Tips Click To Tweet

3. Proper amount of tags
Like Instagram, there is an appropriate amount of tags to be used for each post. For twitter it is three, for Instagram it is up to 30, and in Tumblr, the perfect amount is 7 to 12 hashtags. Any amount above that is considered spam.

4. Choose your name wisely
Spend some time on deciding which name fits your brand the best, but also speaks to your audience. I highly suggest that you look through the most popular Tumblr, and see what types of names work best with the millennial audience. If you are not a part of that age group yourself, I also suggest that you should run the idea by a few millennial friends, or your do a survey on one of your social media platforms that mainly focuses on this age group in order to find the perfect name for your brand.

5. Connect emotionally
Your audience is not looking for a constant display of items they should be purchasing, but rather an emotional connection with your content. Make them care about what you write about the content you promote and most importantly make them care about your opinion. Give them a reason to choose to go to your Tumblr over all of the other ones out there. The best way to do that is to evoke strong emotions.

The Cons Of Affiliate Marketing

Many marketers and bloggers will tell you the positive sides of affiliate marketing, but today, I want to let you know what the con’s of affiliate marketing are, so you can make an informed decision on if this type of business is right for you.

1. It is not a get rich quick type of business.
If you are looking for a short cut when it comes to making money, affiliate marketing is not the right avenue for you. Affiliate marketing takes time because you need to build and audience and trust before they will click on your
links.

2. If you don’t like writing content, affiliate marketing might not be for you.
Content marketing is the best strategy to utilize when you are trying to build an affiliate marketing income. May it be via an email subscriber list – which requires you to write emails, or via blog posts, infusing affiliate links into content naturally, brings usually a higher click-through rate, than banners. Of course, you could outsource your content writing to freelancers, but considering that most blogs require you to write content 2 to 3 days a week to rank higher on Google, that can become an expensive strategy for the beginning affiliate marketer

3. It is time-consuming.
Building an audience for your blog and social media channels takes consistent and daily action. A new affiliate marketer should be willing to invest a lot of time to build his or her online presence and business. Also, marketing and niche research, which is essential is also time-consuming.

4. You Have To Wait For Your Money
Most affiliate programs pay out once a month, with some of them holding the commission back for one month, to allow the payments to clear, and any refunds to occur. This is not an immediate cash flow business and might take – even with a high sale volume, take a few weeks before you will see money arriving in your bank account or PayPal.

Despite what I have just mentioned, I believe that affiliate marketing is the best way for a beginner to make money online, as it requires the least amount of upfront expenses. To get started you need a website, and social media accounts to start applying for affiliate networks and partners such as Amazon, Target, Etsy, ShareASale and more.

Blogging 102: Rework Your Old Content

Blogging 102: Rework Your Old Content

In order to maximize page views and with that your ability to maximize your potential to monetize your blog,  I find it wise to contemplate reworking your old content, especially the content that has in the past gained some interest with readers. One of the biggest mistakes a new blogger can make is to have the write it and forget it attitude and ignore this potential.

Some of these posts though might need some serious reworking. Links might no longer be functioning, the content might not be optimized to fit today’s reading habits, or your blogging goals have changed, and your content from 2 or 3 years ago does not fit into that picture.

Rework your old blog content to optimize pageviews. Find out how: #blogtips #blogging Click To Tweet

No worries, here are a few steps you can take in order to optimize the content and make it shareable again:

1. Does your blog post have a call to action?
Your call to action should reflect your current blogging goals, therefore you might want to change your previous CTA to fit your campaigns of today. Examples of effective CTA would be to ask people to share your content, to add a comment,  or follow a link to a related blog post. You can also ask people to subscribe if you are trying to grow your email list.

2. Images
Does your blog post have an image that is optimized to be shared on social media? Ideally, you have two images to share per post, one at the beginning, and one further into the content. Each of those images should have a solid description, as well as an ALT description that features the keywords you are trying to rank for. Make sure you are using a consistent style and font for all of your images, so that they are easily recognized as your brand. If you do not already have created a style guide for your blog and brand, do that before you optimize your images and posts.

3. Optimal formatting
Your blog posts should be easily scannable with multiple subheadlines, in complementing colors (see my thoughts on style guide above). While people appreciate a long-form content, it is much easier to read it if it is not written in a long blob of text. Enter bulletin points whenever necessary and possible, and break up the text by using images, as well as a click to tweet box.

4. Links
Add relevant affiliate links to your post, and check those you have already added to your content. If you have written relevant content since writing the old post, add a link to it.

Make it a habit reworking your content on a regular basis, in order to optimize your page views.

Question: What are your best tips for optimizing old blog content? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

Pinterest Tips And Tricks: How To Make The Most Out Of Pinterest

Pinterest Tips And Tricks: How To Make The Most Out Of Pinterest

Pinterest is a fun and potentially profitable social media platform. It is not as hard to navigate and make  money from as you might think. In order to make it even easier, I have compiled some Pinterest tips and tricks to help you navigate this versatile platform.

5 Quick Pinterest Tips And Tricks:

1. Follow 300 people a day interested in your niche.
Pinterest has a daily follow limit of 300 people, but if you work smartly with this follow limit, you can use it  to grow your audience with relevant followers that are already interested in your niche. Finding these followers is
easy: Find boards that are relevant to your niche with a large following. Follow all of those followers (up to your 300 per day follow limit). Repeat daily. I have grown my audience from 800 followers to 9500 followers in a matter of 6 weeks, using this  trick.

2. Share your videos
You do not have to only  pin images to the platform, but also videos from youtube. Post your video to your relevant boards. Because people on Pinterest are usually ready to buy or consume content, so this is especially useful for guides on how to use products, unboxing videos, and review videos.

3. Share direct affiliate links.
Pinterest allows direct affiliate links. You can take advantage of that fact by sharing items from a variety of products  that are related to your niche, by adding them to your boards or create specific boards, such as a Mother’s Day Gift board, or gifts for her board, or a fashion board. I have a board that includes home decor, another that is solely for pillows, as well as a popular board containing business cards from Zazzle designers. Be creative.

4. Pin relevant quotes, linking them to your content.
Quotes that are related to your content (which you can also use for Instagram and Twitter) are very popular on Pinterest. Quote boards are often group boards and have a large following because everyone looks for inspiration, and motivation at times. This universal appeal can help you promote your blog and website without seeming spammy to a wide audience.

Pinterest is a versatile platform for bloggers and marketing opportunities. Find out more:… Click To Tweet

5. Add a humor board to your collection.
Just like quote boards, humor boards have a wide appeal. In order to draw a wide variety of people to your Pinterest account, and to keep the content light you can create a board that contains funny content related to your niche. Sports humor goes well with fitness niches while parenting humor is much appreciated in lifestyle and parenting, as well as education and homeschool niches. Again, be creative, but keep the content relevant.

I hope these quick Pinterest Tips and Tricks helped you to utilize the potential of this versatile social media platform.

Why Affiliate Marketing Is The Best Starter Passive Income Opportunity

Why Affiliate Marketing Is The Best Starter Passive Income Opportunity

So you want to make money online, but you are not sure where to start? The offers out there, and opportunities are overwhelming and often hard to negotiate for someone without an extensive background in online selling and marketing. This is why I recommend affiliate marketing as the best starter passive income opportunity.

My Top 5 Reasons Why I Think Affiliate marketing is the best starter passive income opportunity

Top 5 Reasons Affiliate Marketing is the best starter passive income opportunity #Business… Click To Tweet

1. Minimal starter cost. Sure, you need a website (preferably a self-hosted WordPress site), but you can host these quite inexpensively via reliable hosts such as HostGator.com. In addition, you will need a domain name, which is almost always available for under 20 Dollars a year, and that is about it, to get started. I do not recommend that you use a free blogging host, such as wordpress.com or blogger because it does not allow you the flexibility you will need to create and effective site.
2. Plenty of niches for every skill and interest. No matter if you are into stamp collecting, training your cat, or love flyfishing, there are products out there, that you can promote. Sure, you should make sure that your niche actually has a significant enough following and interest, but otherwise, if you are an expert in a particular area, you can use that to your advantage.
3. Amazon is your best friend. Amazon does most of the selling for you. They offer products in such a variety, that Amazon is the best affiliate program you can possibly connect with. Consumers already trust this retail giant, and with the extensive return policy, and secure platform, it is easy to convince someone to purchase through it. At least a lot easier than an unknown website.
4. You do not have to carry any inventory. Inventory equals devoting an extensive amount of time, investment, organization, and know-how to your business. As an affiliate marketer, you do not have to worry about shipping, returns, collecting payment, labeling, and all of the other details, that can be overwhelming for anyone to who just starts out in the business world. You can add these responsibilities later, by selling your own products, and I highly recommend that you eventually expand your passive income streams, but in order to get familiar with the process, you can being slowly, and learn while you go.
5. Build an online reputation. With an affiliate marketing site, you can build an online reputation as an authority, which allows you to expand your passive income streams in the future, by utilizing your already created customer base. As I mentioned above, it is wise to expand your income streams to various other opportunities, after some time, and creating a solid foundation via your affiliate marketing reputation, will make it easier for your already existing consumers to purchase your own product, work with you via your service, or read your books.

Getting started with working online, should not be any more complicated than it needs to be. Finding the right path for yourself, while starting with the easiest opportunity to enter, is a wise choice.

What The Heck Is A MLM Business?

What The Heck Is A MLM Business?

If you are looking for online business opportunities, the chances that you come across the term MLM are rather large. MLM’s are everywhere, but to a person to the online business world, this leaves one very large question: What the heck is an MLM business?

What Is A MLM Business?

MLM stands for Multi Level Marketing, which pays their entrepreneurs mostly via two strategies – selling products or  services, AND by recruiting other people into the business and often allowing them to get a share of the profits of their recruits. The term Pyramid Scheme is often related to MLM business opportunities, and while not all of MLM opportunities are scams, some of them are, so you should be vary about signing up for just any of these types of offers.

Examples of MLM Businesses

You have most likely heard of many companies, who are essentially following the MLM business model without realizing that they are. Some of them are not only established but have quite a good reputation. Here is a list of examples:

Amway (health, beauty, and household products)
Avon (beauty products)
Usborne Books (educational products)
NuSkin (skin care)
Herbal Life (health and nutrition)
Mary Kay (beauty products)
It Works! (skin care and nutrition)
Scentsy (candles and scents)
Ambit Energy (electric and natural gas)
Advocare (health and fitness)

As you can see, MLM businesses are found in a variety of niches and are often well known.

What The Heck Is A MLM Business? What To Look Out For:

Some of MLM companies are not legit and offer little to no value to those who they are trying to recruit. While not everyone will have the same results or experiences I have had with some of these companies, I will over the next few weeks try to highlight those who work and those who did not work for me.

1. What training do they offer?
The quality of training of these companies varies greatly. Some offer continuous training opportunities, and valuable  information, that can help you build a thriving business, while others will leave you with a simple PDF that has nothing to offer.

2. Upfront and continued cost
Almost every MLM has upfront costs, which in itself is not a problem. But many of them either do not give you valuable information or products in exchange for your money, or will ask you to pay a continued fee, and other payments, that promise more results. Make sure that you are informed about all costs – those to get started, and those who are continued costs.

3. Their focus is on recruiting not on selling
If the companies products are great, and worth their price, they tend to not push those signed up through their programs to push for new recruits, at least not right away. Other companies, however, push more recruiting, then selling, which should set off your alarm bells. These are very often not legitimate companies.

4. Lack of quality products.
Any good MLM company will allow you to sample their products and showcase their quality. If the product is not up to  high-quality standards, don’t sign up. Avon, for example, is known for their high-quality products, and it is easy to find someone who had good experiences with the company.

Conclusion:

MLM business opportunities are not all bad, as some want to make you believe. But, in order to make these types of businesses profitable for you, you must do your research.
I personally suggest that you should diversify your online business, by using a variety of passive income models, such as affiliate marketing, drop shipping, or Kindle publishing, as well as working with MLM companies.

Watch out for more detailed reviews on specific MLM companies, over the course of the next few weeks!

Don’t Fall For Get Rich Quick Scams!

Don't Fall For Get Rich Quick Scams!

The ever growing potential of influencer marketing, affiliate marketing, online businesses, and blogging have drawn more and more people to be interested in trying to create their financial wealth online. As with many businesses, this
created also an influx of businesses that promise these new entrepreneurs ways to get rich quick. Truth is, none of these companies that promise you that you will make money simply by buying their products are actually giving you what you  paid for.

Don’t get me wrong, there are many companies out there, that serve those of us, who are new to the online business world, and provide valuable information. Ranging from all-inclusive packages, like Wealthy Affiliate, online courses like Creative Live and Fizzle, or email marketing services like GetResponds, these companies bring true value. At the same time, there are those waiting to take advantage of those who see the dollar signs of the successful online people, such as some YouTubers, bloggers, and affiliate marketers, and want to reach that level – now.

Related Article: Scam Alert: Affiliate Marketing Mastery

What they do not understand, that an online business, like any other business, takes time to develop, build and make profit from. Even those, who, seemingly managed “overnight success”, rarely showcase the true work they have put into the business BEFORE they arrived at the stage they are now, in a more public space.

Some companies build their entire enterprise on those customers, serving only their bottom line while promising results that just never happen.

How To Spot Get Rich Quick Scams:

Don't Fall For Get Rich Quick Scams!

1. They do not offer free trials or some kind of free part of their program
2. They promise results quick
3. They appear sudden
4. They have bad reviews (more on reviews in a second)
5. Their testimonials are made up entirely of people with initials as their last name (like Tony R., or Stefanie M. – those are never real people)

A word of caution about reviews:

Most people, me included, get an affiliate commission for providing reviews for a program. This means that some – not all – bloggers and reviewers will purposely enhance their rating, to make a company look better than they truly are. In order to find a reviewer/blogger you can trust, I recommend to see, if they include con’s in their review, and also talk about programs that DO NOT work. If the reviews listed on a website is only made of glowing recommendations, you can pretty much be assured that they are not the most truthful.

I only recommend positively programs I personally use, or have used in the past – sometimes we outgrow particular programs, or found something that fits even better. Not all sites, and companies that I review fit everyone, and I try my best to point this out. Take Wealthy Affiliate for example – I do not recommend this program if you have already base knowledge in marketing, or do not want to build an affiliate marketing business, and rather a different business. Also, it is not the best program for up-to-date social media knowledge. If you are a complete newbie to affiliate marketing, on the other hand, this program is for you.

I hope I have cautioned you to be careful in spending your hard-earned money on programs that can not help you, and promise you quick results, much quicker than you should reasonably be able to expect.

Question:

Which program have you tried out, that did not life up to their promise? Share your experiences in the comment section, below.

Blessings

Claudia
